Global PV inverter shipments reached a 80 GW in 2016

Global PV inverter shipments reached a record 80 gigawatts in 2016, up from 59 gigawatts in 2015. Over the next two years, global shipments will experience a slight dip before resuming growth in 2019. Technological advancements including higher-voltage inverters, more power-dense products, and next-generation switching materials, have yet to exhaust their cost-reduction potential. This will result in continued price declines through 2022. Source: Greentech Media Research
